My third full marathon, to be exact. The first one I ran in 2008, I came in around 7.5 hours, running severely injured. My second attempt was in 2010 with a much improved time of 5.5 hours. I finished strong and owned that mile 23 - in 2008, mile 23 owned me.
This year I'd like to push myself to complete 26.2 miles in less than 5 hours. 4.5 hours perhaps? That's a big stretch goal, but I feel like this is the strongest my core has ever been, so perhaps this is the year I can achieve it.
To be clear, to reach this goal, I would have to average a 10.5 minute mile. For 26.2 miles.
Sounds a little daunting. Good thing training has already started!
Please check back often as I will be updating my total miles logged, as well as chronicle each run experience - this includes buddy runs, OMO (on my own) runs, and regional runs (aka long runs, aka torture).
Miles logged so far with regional runs: 8 miles
Miles logged so far with buddy runs: 6 miles
Total so far: 14 miles
See, I've already completed a half marathon and we're only a month into the training season ;-)
